WoW book foray through Azeroth: Kalimdor postponed for the second time
Update from December 14, 2021 : The release of World of Warcraft: Foray Through Azeroth: Kalimdor is postponed once again. After first talking about a December 2021 release of the English version, Amazon's US website now lists the book for a January 25, 2022 release, which also means that German fans will have to wait until early 2022 for the translation as well. An exact date for the local version has not yet been set.
Is Zekhan the reason for the shift?
The reasons for the renewed postponement of the release date remain unclear. Production delays, which are not uncommon in the context of the Corona pandemic, are conceivable. However, individual fans have already received a copy of the book and expressed criticism of the content.
In particular, the stereotypical portrayal of the popular Horde character Zekhan has been a sour note for the community. Zekhan, who plays an important role in the novel Rise of the Shadows and appears as an honorable, intelligent Horde ambassador, comes across as an uncouth racist and Golin hater in Raid of Azeroth: Kalimdor.
A book full of stereotypes?
Another criticism is the problematic portrayal of goblins, which includes anti-Semitic stereotypes (the poisoning of water wells by goblins). In addition, fans are unhappy with the description of Gazlowe, who also enjoys great popularity within the Horde community, but in the new book appears so arrogant and unfriendly that it seems as if his name should have originally been replaced by that of Trade Prince Gallywix.
We won't know if these portrayals will change until the book's release in January 2022, when Raid on Azeroth: Kalimdor is released. We hope for the best - after all, Blizzard has shown how to do it better with the Alliance counterpart.
Original news from October 25, 2021: A few days ago, we reported that Blizzard has once again postponed the new WoW novel Sylvanas. The book is expected to be released on March 29, 2022. However, the novel is not the only WoW book to be postponed. World of Warcraft: Explores Azeroth: Kalimdor will now also be released later.
Following the success of World of Warcraft: Roaming Azeroth: The Eastern Kingdoms comes World of Warcraft: Roaming Azeroth: Kalimdor, which focuses on the history of the western continent and the new home of the Horde. Readers will accompany the legendary Horde hero Rexxar and his troll companion Zekhan as they roam the dangerous wilderness of Kalimdor.01:26
