WoW Patch 9.1.5: Active mitigation in Legion dungeons revised

WoW patch 9.1.5 introduces the Legion time-travel dungeons along with Mythic-Plus scaling. The total of six dungeons have already been tested on the PTR, but still need to be adjusted a bit. In a recent blog post, the developers share what still needs to be done.

Adjustment of the difficulty level

In time-walking dungeons, players can make their lives easier by using old Legendaries with strong abilities. However, the fact that Heart of Azeroth and Azerite Armor worked during testing was a bug. To compensate, Legion Timewalk dungeons will play three levels easier than their Shadowlands counterpart in terms of difficulty. So a +13 Legion dungeon will feel like a +10 Shadowlands dungeon.

To better balance the challenges of Legion dungeons, the developers are also trying to prevent mob "snopening." In this trick, players gather dozens of mobs and head to a higher point (a pillar or similar) to have all the mobs teleport directly to that point.

Change to abilities that required Active Mitigation

In Legion dungeons, mobs with some of their abilities did more damage or triggered an additional effect unless the tank used an Active Mitigation such as Deathblow as a Blood Death Knight. Since many abilities have changed with Shadowlands or are no longer available to tanks at all, Legion mob abilities will be modified

.

For example, Dark Energies no longer triggers an Adsorption Shield in addition to Shadow damage unless its attack has been mitigated by Active Mitigation. For the full list of changed abilities, check out the article on wowhead.com.
